2025 TRF Meeting Minutes — 12/16/2025
Present - Chip, George, Chad, Kyle, Mark & Mike. TRF Meeting (VIA ZOOM).
Open Session
- November Minutes - Approved with clarification that the Endowment Fund interest would be moved to savings.
- TRF Financials - Discussed and financial totals noted. Final paper reports will be sent shortly. December approval will be moved to January.
- Regatta Update 2026 - Park is secured with Metroparks. Mike suggested the board reach out to Cat and provide areas that they are interested in helping or taking on for the 2026 regatta and to not wait for an invitation. Being proactive will help greatly. Personal note: We really need someone to take on the fundraising or at least share the burden.
- UPDATE - Fuel Storage – External to BH - No response from teams. Chip and Kyle will make the decision for them on the space that is allowed. Report of status for January with a goal that in February this is complete prior to spring season. Extra fuel should be removed.
- TRF Boat Repairs or Parts - Two TRF boats should go out this winter for repair. Onmoro and TRF 4 (repairs to be paid by UT). Discussion on repairs. Two providers - Russ in Ann Arbor and Finish Line. Ann Arbor is better suited for spot repairs. Most immediate is the damaged 4. Finish Line did the last that were just sent.
- BH Winterization - Access Completed. Code will be changed shortly. Chad has been the only person to change and has the process. Mark offered to also help and learn if provided.
- Goals or ideas for 2026 - Mark mentioned the idea to make the rear area a winter workout space. Effectively moving out the items in the back to the front bays for the winter. Insulating the back space and even heating. Questions brought up were who would use the space? What is the plan? Programming? Who will organize and who will coach the activities? What equipment would be used? Most of TRC ergs are broken and many of the AW ergs are in marginal shape. It might be a great way to grow TRC membership. Mention of an indoor regatta. Money maker or just good for rowing? No resolution on the idea at this meeting but good discussion.
- Spring Billing - February 1 billing and portal open. March 1 all programs should be paid. Or that is the goal.
- OTHER - www.toledorowing.org. This web site was originally the TRC web site. When TRF took over TRC and its organization, TRF agreed to continue to pay the annual expense in the ownership. TRF also neutralized the site to make it an information hub for the BH (or that was the goal). Mike has been maintaining and updating this site with his limited tech knowledge. There is a great deal on this page. The offer was that if there was a way for TRC to create a landing spot on that web site it would be a money-saving idea. Kyle is also in that industry and offered to help and provide ideas. He is also an admin already on the site.
Boat Storage: George mentioned that some of the other boats could be stored on end as an option.
Chad mentioned selling more of the TRF boats that are not used to make room. Alden specifically currently needs repaired to use. It was agreed that a list could be made of boats that are not used. However, none would be sold at this point. If growth of TRC is the plan and programming, they should remain in usable condition for that growth or need.
Mike mentioned that UT was asking if the TRC King 8+ was for sale or any other larger boats in the BH. Was advised the King was NOT for sale.
An active team bay door was inadvertently painted over by UT. Kyle is coordinating the return to its original state with UT by spring.
