The Foundation · Established 1984
The Toledo Rowing Foundation's mission is to encourage and support healthy, stimulating, and rewarding rowing on a local, national and international scale.
Our story
The Toledo Rowing Foundation was formed in 1984 to foster national and international amateur sports competition, and primarily to support and develop amateur athletes for it. As a 501(c)(3) corporation, it is eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions.
Many of the shells in the boathouse have been purchased over the years by the Foundation, enabling many of the area's high school programs to get started. In fact, the boathouse itself is the result of the Foundation's fundraising efforts.
In February 2021 the Foundation took over management of the Philip LeBoutillier Jr. Boathouse.
That step let the Toledo Rowing Club reestablish its membership. At the same time, the high school teams became independent members of the boathouse community, each with its own board and bylaws, all following US Rowing rules.
The Toledo Rowing Foundation Endowment Fund, created in 1999, sends its investment returns to TRF for unrestricted use on boathouse improvements. Contributions to all of the Foundation's funds are most appreciated.
